Oil and Gas Lawyer
Even before becoming an attorney, Greg Jordan was involved in the oil and gas industry as a petroleum landman and mechanical engineer. He brings an in-depth knowledge of the industry as a whole, and understands where the pieces of oil and gas “puzzle” fit. He often advises landowners with respect to oil and gas leases and negotiates such leases and other agreements, including easements and right-of-ways with the oil companies. He has handled numerous oil and gas related lawsuits, arbitrations, or disputes including ones involving oil and gas leases, oil and gas royalties, mineral ownership, oil and gas production, damage to surface lands by oil and gas producers, failure of producers to properly pay royalties, easements, pollution around gas plants, and matters before the Railroad Commission. We have handled untold numbers of claims involving non-competition agreements. We have further represented clients (both employers and employees) in hundreds of employment discrimination, retaliation or harassment disputes over the years. One particular employment area in which we find ourselves assisting more and more employers and employees over the past few years involves non-competition and non-solicit agreements. Employers often want to enforce such agreements and employees often seek to avoid them. The law in Texas related to non-competes has changed dramatically over the last 15 years. Usually avenues exist through which non-competition agreements can be attacked or through which they can be defended, depending upon how they were drafted and how a party seeks to enforce them.
