What is a division order?

A division order is an instrument which sets out the proportional ownership in the oil and gas that is produced from a well or unit. Division order requirements are covered by Section 91.402 of the Natural Resources Code. In the division order, the mineral interest owner will generally agree on the exact decimal interest he or she owns within a well or unit.
